300 Apparel Firms To Be In Russian Fair
With an aim to explore the Russian textile market, over 300 Indian apparel companies will showcase their products in a fair at Saint Petersburg, which will start from next month.
The four-day Fashion Industry International Fair, which will start from October 11, is one of the largest fair of textiles sector, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) President A Sakthivel said in a statement.
"Indian companies is targeting the Russian apparel market through this participation. Over 300 exhibitors of ready-made garments, knitwear, hosiery and bags are participating," he said.
The fair is the right place for international manufacturers, suppliers and trade delegations to discuss with buyers, retailers, dealers and distributors from across the region, he added. "The fair will help Indian firms in exchange of professional experience, technologies, establishment of new contacts and marketing research," he said.
Saint Petersburg (Russia) is an important place for the textile sector. It has 1,400 middle and 44 large fashion garment companies. Besides, there are around 11,000 fashion retail companies over 80 large trade centres. "Therefore, it holds huge business opportunity for Indian companies," he said. According to an estimate, the USD 89 billion Indian textile and apparel industry would touch the figure of USD 221 billion by 2021.
